I know my blog has been pretty quiet for a while. Wow, this has been a busy season of photographing sweet, in-love couples at amazing locations! Kierstin and Blake's engagement session on Lake Burton was no exception. <-- I've attached an amazing fun link for any of you families and friends wanting to visit this amazing gem in North GA!
First of all, there's no such thing as too much love. As comfortable as you and your soon-to-be love are in front-of-the-camera and with PDA, it will only make your photos that much sweeter! (We'll be tasteful.. don't worry). ;)
Second of all, there is no such thing as too many flowers. Flowers bring an even greater element of romance. Kierstin rocked two different bouquets to change things up, a flower crown, AND a floral dress... against this stunning location. It totally ROCKED!!!
Lastly, on the topic of outfits, as a photographer (and newlywed), I have many opinions, but if you hire me to be your engagement/wedding photographer I want you to trust me. A few things I regret are A) dressing like someone I wasn't and B) too casually. That's my personal preference though, and I wish now that we had dressed up a little more. I wish I had gotten my hair and make-up professionally done. It was July, I should have known, it was so humid and my hair was so frizzy, and I am a minimalistic make-up wearer. That being said, if you already know that you and your honey aren't big picture-takers outside of your upcoming engagement shoot and wedding - I say go all out! Ask me for advice, or ask your photographer. Trust me, they are dying to see something new, unique and different! Most importantly though, be yourselves, but invest in this special time.
Use your engagement shoot as an opportunity to do a trial run with your florist, hair and make up artist(s), and photographer. After all, we will be with you (mostly) all day, and you'll spend even more time with us than with your family. If you're uncertain about your engagement shoot location, I always encourage my couples to either pick a location that is sentimental to them, or to ask their wedding venue if we can shoot there! It really starts to feel real then, if you know what I mean.
From one bride to another, I hope this helps. Feel free to leave questions in the comments, email me, or find me on Facebook, TribbleShoot Photography, and ask questions there!
