Brunchin' in Greenville
Do you ever wish you could just show up to a wedding as guest for inspirational ideas for your own wedding? As photographers, we often feel this way! For once, we’d love to just sit on the sidelines, sip champagne, eat cake and dance like a guest! If you’re getting married and know a photographer (that you’re not hiring) maybe consider throwing an invite their way. This wasn’t one of those instances but I did have the pleasure of playing a 50/50 role as guest/photographer at The Big Fake Wedding in Greenville this past November.
The Big Fake Wedding is a ticketed event but if you know the right vendor you can get free tickets. For example, I had a bunch of free tickets to give to my current brides so that they could connect with other local vendors in hopes to find someone they needed for their wedding! It’s a great date night for you and your sweetie that is similar to a “bridal expo” but without all the hard sales pitches, flagging you down and the extra buffet food style lines, real wedding cake slices, and SO MANY FREE GOODIES and doggy bags.
TBFW has been around for over ten years and hosts over-the-top stylized, fun events all over the country. Check out to see if there’s one coming to a city near you here. They create elaborate weddings like this one you’re about to see to showcase the work of the best vendors in the area. The couple in the photos are always newlyweds who are local to the area so it’s a always a sweet moment to witness a couple renewing their vow that aren’t much further along than you who are reading this.
There’s nothing I love more than a fun brunch-themed design with warm tones, textured florals, and of course, brunch-inspired goodies like a pie bar, mimosas, and take home mini coffee bottles. From the Bailey’s bar pop-up to the champagne bus, there were SO many must-see sweet ideas.
Other than TBFW, I have done one other brunch sunrise wedding and there was nothing else like it. There is something sweet and simple about a brunch wedding surrounded by your loved ones over waffles and biscuits. Needless to say, I will always be grateful that I was able to be a part of this celebration just four months after moving to the city. Now, take a look at my favorite images from The Big Fake Wedding that will have you wishing you were in “the breakfast club!” ;)
